Ray M. Becker
Dr. Becker practices comprehensive and esthetic based dentistry in Ellicott City, Maryland. Having graduated with honors and awards from the Baltimore College of Dental Surgery in 1986, Dr. Becker strongly advocates continuing education evidenced by his earning the Fellowship Award from the Academy of General Dentistry. The thousands of hours of CE he has completed include many advanced courses and completed programs in comprehensive occlusion, practice management, lasers, esthetics, CAD/CIM, and advanced prosthetics. He has taken the Dawson Series occlusion courses, neuromuscular training as well as being a graduate of Schuster's Center for Professional Development. He holds proficiency certification in hard and soft tissue lasers from the ALD, as well as Mastership status in Total BioPAK.Dr. Becker is well known for incorporating and developing unique applications of computers in dentistry. He personally wrote the code of the practice management program he used for 6 years in his office. This led to being an EXACT (Executive Advisor and Consulting Team) member for HCC and Unident developing the highly successful MacPractice series software. He is also currently on the developmental team of Sirona (previously Siemens) responsible for developing and advancing the CEREC 3D® system and software. Further, he has helped test and develop the new Isolite I2 isolation device for Isolite Systems.
All of his teaching reflects a belief that to be successfully applied by others any proposed means or method must be taught as scalable, comprehensive, and elegant. Scalable so a wide variety of typical practitioners in a busy practice can easily begin applying the information immediately and understand how to subsequently grow with it. Comprehensive that by its application the widest range of acknowledged information about the topic is encompassed, without any particular bias. Most importantly it must be elegant in its approach, defined here as the simplest number of required steps possible to achieve results.
Being one of the very first CEREC® users in the United States with CEREC 1 in 1991, through CEREC 2, CEREC 3, and eventually CEREC 3D Dr. Becker is widely acknowledged internationally as a pioneer in CAD/CIM dentistry. Using the technology for close to 20 years clinically and completing tens of thousands of cases has led to the development of a wide range of clinical methods and techniques to significantly improve CEREC® delivery. Along the way he created the first tutorial DVD's for that method and the subsequent series which has sold thousands of copies worldwide. These DVD's are widely acclaimed for helping CEREC® doctors overcome many obstacles in the real world delivery of that method.
Dr. Becker has also been published in Praxis for Practice Management, Dentistry Today for use of Lasers with CEREC® and recently in the Compendium of Continuing Education for Biometrics Role in Occlusion.
This wide range of experience and expertise has led to numerous presentations and courses at national meetings as well as international keynotes including Australia, Canada Finland, and Mexico. The extremely successful and well received 'CEREC/Esthetics Bootcamp' that Dr. Becker created drew attendance of close to 100 doctors from 9 different countries.
Dr. Becker's focus is on Biometrics and Occlusion as they apply to the successful delivery of ceramic, CAD/CIM, and reconstructive dentistry. Realizing that occlusion plays such a key role in success he typically achieves, he has developed a delivery model which is scalable, comprehensive and elegant in its approach. His approach is designed to incorporate neuromuscular and joint based philosophies into a delivery model that is well accepted by patients, easy to incorporate into most practices, and productive. This model provides the practitioner with the modality to comprehensively address occlusion profitably into their practice. Having successfully implemented this model into his own private practice and utilizing his background and expertise Dr. Becker has effectively taught this model to others internationally. The popular Biometrics Role in Occlusion series of courses has shown doctors how to easily understand and profitably implement occlusion into their own practice. Additionally, he has taught and certified dentists internationally in Total BioPAK. For more information Dr. Becker can be reached at 410-730-4674 or at docrayb@mac.com.
